Exotic & Clad-Metal Equipment Fabrication
Fabrication of process equipment using specified corrosion-resistant materials or clad construction. ATTOMO reviews the equipment duty, material system and fabrication requirements before defining the scope.
Process and equipment approach
Solid, lined and clad construction have different design and fabrication requirements. Compatibility depends on the process medium, temperature, pressure, joining method and inspection basis. Cladding is not automatically the most suitable or least-cost choice.
Applications and product requirements
Exotic-alloy and clad-metal equipment is considered where corrosion, temperature or product requirements justify a different material system. Candidate materials may include titanium, selected nickel alloys, duplex stainless steel, copper or an approved clad combination. Actual availability and fabrication scope require confirmation for the grade and construction.
Equipment and operating approach
Clad equipment combines a structural backing with a compatible corrosion-resistant layer; it is not the same as solid-alloy construction or an applied coating. Selection considers corrosion, bond integrity, thermal expansion, joining and connection details. Design changes at nozzles and welds can be as important as the shell material.

Define the right package.
The quotation defines the included equipment, services and battery limits.
- Columns, vessels and heat-transfer equipment
- Material and joint-detail review
- Fabrication and inspection requirements
- Agreed quality records and test documentation
Materials and configuration
The quotation must identify base and cladding materials, thicknesses, bonding or supply method, joint design, qualified procedures, examinations and traceability. Fabrication to customer drawings and material-system design are separate responsibilities. The material schedule identifies the exact grades and product standards for the equipment.
Utilities and operation
Supply full process and cleaning chemistry, pressure, temperature, cycling, vacuum conditions and corrosion history. Inspection and acceptance should address the required weld and bond examinations. Material suitability and service expectations depend on the specified chemistry and operating conditions.

Frequently asked questions
When should solid alloy be compared with clad construction?
Compare mechanical duty, corrosion allowance, thermal behaviour, fabrication, inspection and total installed cost. The cheaper plate material alone does not determine the best construction.
Does “Hastelloy” identify one interchangeable material?
No. Specific grades have different properties. State the exact alloy designation, material standard and required certificates in the enquiry.
What evidence is needed for a clad-equipment package?
Define material traceability, bond requirements, welding qualifications, examination methods and final testing in the approved inspection plan.
